About Beaverton
Beaverton combines the best of Portland food and culture into the ease of suburban living. Food carts and farmers markets? Check. Bike paths and public transit? Check. Lush green parks within a half mile of every home? Check. At Cedar Hills Crossing, you’ll even find a 32,500-square-foot outpost of Powell’s Books conveniently nestled in the same shopping complex as New Seasons Market and a 16-screen cinema.
Just over the West Hills from Portland, Beaverton is Oregon’s sixth largest city with 97,000 residents. Its population one-ups Portland in terms of diversity, which fuels some of the best ethnic cuisine in the region. You could easily spend a year eating your fill of dosas, ramen, and banh mi without ever leaving Beaverton. If your cravings lean toward national chains, you’re also in luck. For every chain restaurant Portland has banished from the city, Beaverton has two, including two Chick-fil-A locations. Bourbon aficionados will swoon over the Westgate Bourbon Bar & Taphouse, which features a massive selection of bourbons paired with upscale pub food. If you’re burning midnight oil and need a jolt of caffeine, Ava Roasteria serves the best coffee in town and is open until 3:00 a.m.
In the heart of downtown Beaverton, the community gathers every Saturday for the Beaverton Farmers Market. It’s a festive affair with live music, cooking demonstrations, and crowds upwards of 20,000 in the summer months. You’ll find fresh products from local growers, farmers, and ranchers, along with a dizzying array of artisan foods available for sampling.
If you’re in need of place to burn off all those calories, Beaverton has you covered with over 100 city parks. At 222-acres, Tualatin Hills Nature Park is the largest and features five miles of paved and unpaved trails winding alongside streams, forests, and wetlands. The park is located directly across from the Nike world headquarters, so you’ll likely find yourself jogging in the midst of Nike employees. Just be mindful of your footwear brand. This is Nike country after all.
You’ll find a variety of homes in Beaverton ranging from luxurious estates to ranch homes in established neighborhoods to new construction homes and condo developments.
